Six months ago, Law Roach told the world Tom Holland and Zendaya were married. On Sunday night, at the 78th Emmy Awards, he told Variety he'd made it up.

"I actually lied," Roach said. "She wasn't married. They actually haven't had an official ceremony yet. It's gonna happen after the 'Dune' press tour."

So which is it. Roach's own answer is messier than a clean walk-back. Pressed on why Holland keeps calling Zendaya his wife in interviews, the stylist said, "She's been his wife for a really long time now, but it's not official yet." That's not a correction so much as a shrug dressed up as clarity. Asked if he might be misleading everyone again, Roach didn't deny it. "I could," he said.

This is the second time Roach has reshuffled the story. Back in March, he told reporters flatly that "the wedding has already happened." Around the same time, AI-generated images of Zendaya in a wedding dress did the rounds online, convincing enough that she had to shoot them down herself on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, calling the pictures fake and saying so directly. Roach echoed that at the Emmys, insisting those viral photos were never real.

What makes his latest version harder to swallow is Holland's own account. In June, he told Esquire his family "were all there" on his wedding day, referring to Zendaya as his wife in the same breath. That's about as close to a confirmation as a public figure gets without issuing a press release. It sits awkwardly next to Roach's claim, three months later, that no official ceremony has actually taken place.

Neither Holland nor Zendaya has said anything on the record to settle this either way. No date, no venue, no confirmation of vows exchanged or not exchanged. What we do have is a release calendar. Dune: Part Three opens overseas on December 16 and in North America two days later, and Zendaya's promotional commitments for that run through the back half of the year. Roach's version has the couple holding off on anything official until that circus is done.

Whether that means a private ceremony already happened and this is just paperwork, or whether the whole thing is still ahead of them, depends on which Law Roach quote you trust. Right now, that's an open question with a December deadline attached to it.
