Forget the show for a second. The red carpet outside the Peacock Theater in downtown LA did most of the talking before the 2026 MTV VMAs even started, and Lisa Rinna made sure of it.
The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills veteran arrived in an ivory gown with a sculpted, sheer bust that left little to guesswork, paired with a thigh-high slit, a long train and fabric draped off one shoulder. TMZ, which was on the ground documenting the arrivals, singled her out as the look of the night.
That's saying something, because she wasn't short of competition.
Taylor Swift led the arrivals, and Paris Hilton showed up in a full silver look that matched the metallic energy of the night. Tyla was also among the early names to hit the carpet, part of a lineup TMZ described as heavy on both music stars and reality TV regulars.
Adam Lambert went the theatrical route, all black, with a massive trailing cape topped off by a spiky headpiece. It was one of the more dramatic entrances of the evening, the kind of look built specifically for a carpet full of photographers. Chloe Bailey and Harry Jowsey rounded out the early wave of arrivals, posing outside the venue as the gallery kept filling up.
This year's VMAs mark the show's return to Los Angeles for the first time since 2017, and the venue change seemed to bring out a different kind of energy on the carpet, less New York minimalism, more full-throttle spectacle. Snoop Dogg is hosting this edition, with Madonna set to open the broadcast, though the arrivals alone gave the night's photographers plenty to work with before a single performance happened.
More stars were still expected to roll through as the carpet stayed active right up to showtime, per TMZ's rolling coverage. Whether Rinna's gown ends up as the single most talked-about look of VMAs week, or whether something from inside the venue overtakes it once the performances start, is the only question left hanging over the night.
