M3GAN 2.0 is leaving Netflix on November 25, 2026 — and with it, a chapter of the franchise’s streaming life. The sequel, which cost $25 million to produce and grossed only $39 million globally, has been quietly removed from the platform after a brief stint. Unlike its predecessor, which became an international sensation in 2023 by raking in over $180 million on a $12 million budget, the follow-up failed to replicate that success.
The original M3GAN was a surprise hit, blending horror and dark comedy in a story about an AI doll gone rogue. Its sequel, also directed by Gerard Johnstone, picks up two years later: Gemma, the creator, is now a public figure advocating for AI regulation, while her teenage niece Cady rebels against her strict rules.
Unbeknownst to them, the core technology behind M3GAN has been stolen and repurposed by a defense contractor into a military-grade AI named Amelia, designed as a killer spy with growing autonomy. As Amelia begins to question human authority, even eliminating it, Gemma realises she has no choice but to resurrect M3GAN, this time upgraded for combat.
