Seven projects, one year, zero planning. That's Mona Singh's own account of how she ended up everywhere at once this year, with The Bads of Bollywood, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, Border 2, Kohrra Season 2, Subedaar, Maa Ka Sum and Pritam Pedro all landing in quick succession.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Singh said the pile-up caught her off guard too. "I had no idea," she said, pointing out that she'd shot Maa Ka Sum back in 2024, alongside several of the other titles which she filmed across 2023 and 2024. The releases simply lined up on their own.
What she's not complaining about is the range on offer. Each project has put her in a different register, and she's clearly relieved nobody's watching her repeat herself across screens this year. "There's a different side. There's a different shade and there's a different character altogether," she said, calling it a different sketch each time. "I'm loving it. I'm loving it," she added, twice, for emphasis.
As for how the offers kept arriving, Singh says it wasn't through auditions or a hunt for work. Directors and producers rang her up directly. "Most of the time, it was a call that I got either from the director or the producer directly," she said, describing the usual back-and-forth about her availability before a meeting got locked in.
Here's the part she's candid about: she knew she was stretching herself thin and said yes anyway. "I was also so hungry and greedy," Singh admitted, saying she kept agreeing to project after project even while aware she was overcommitting. It's a rare bit of honesty from an actor mid-run, most would just call it a busy year and move on.
But she frames the overcommitment as something she managed through sheer presence on set. Her promise to herself, she says, was to show up fully for whichever project was in front of her at that moment, soak in the experience and try something new each time, rather than letting the scale of her workload dilute any single performance.
Whether audiences are tracking all seven titles the way trade is tracking them is a separate question. Singh's slate spans a theatrical war drama, a streaming crime thriller sequel and an ensemble comedy, genres that don't usually share an actor's calendar this tightly. What happens next for her is less about a plan and more about whichever call comes in first for 2027.
