The actress's casting rounds out an ensemble that already includes Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arvind Swamy, with the film eyeing an Eid 2027 release.
Salman Khan's next has quietly turned into one of the biggest ensemble bets of the next two years. According to 123telugu, Nayanthara has come on board as the female lead in the Vamshi Paidipally-directed project, reportedly titled Monster, marking her first screen pairing with Salman.
That's a big deal on its own. Nayanthara working opposite a Hindi industry star of Salman's scale is rare, and it signals how much the Paidipally film is being built as a genuine pan-India swing rather than a regional crossover with a Bollywood name stapled on for marketing.
And the supporting cast backs that up. Arvind Swamy, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Ronit Roy and Seema Biswas are all reportedly part of the lineup, which is the kind of roster you usually see on a film trying to cover every region and every kind of character actor at once. Dil Raju is producing under Sri Venkateswara Creations, and the scale shows, with several large action sequences reportedly built into the shoot.
What Salman's playing
The detail that's got people talking is the part itself. Salman is said to be playing a cop, and not a conventional one. Reports describe the character as a "crazy cop," which, going by Paidipally's own track record with heightened, larger-than-life heroes, tracks. It's a far cry from the straight-faced action-hero template Salman has leaned on for most of the last decade, and that alone has fans debating whether this is the role that finally breaks the pattern.
That debate isn't happening in a vacuum. Salman's filmography has been under the scanner online for a while now, with plenty of posts arguing he's coasting compared to his 90s-era peers, even as his Bigg Boss stint keeps pulling record numbers, including a reported 21 million views for one shirtless-outrage moment on the show. A big-canvas film with a genuinely stacked cast and a director known for melodrama-meets-mass entertainment is, at minimum, a swing at changing that conversation.
Production-wise, the film is said to be halfway through its shoot, which puts the Eid 2027 release target in plausible rather than aspirational. Eid releases are Salman's traditional home turf, going back years, so sticking to that window would be in character even if everything else about the project is a departure.
What's still unconfirmed is the title itself. 123telugu's report notes Monster is the name doing the rounds, not an official confirmation from the production. Expect that, along with a first-look announcement, closer to when the shoot wraps. For now, the news is the cast list, and it's a long one. Nayanthara's presence changes the film's commercial math across the south, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff anchor it for older Hindi-film audiences, and Paidipally gets to test whether his brand of big emotional swings travels with a cast this large. The next marker to watch is whether Sri Venkateswara Creations puts out an official statement on the title, or whether Monster sticks by default.
