Malayalam thriller Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkaran hits Netflix — but only in Malayalam. Fans wanted dubs. They got silence.
Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkaran is streaming on Netflix — but not how most fans expected. The Malayalam crime thriller, which earned buzz in theatres, landed on the platform with only its original audio intact. No Telugu dub. No Hindi.
Nothing beyond Malayalam. That’s left a chunk of viewers grumbling. Not because the film isn’t good, it’s been praised for its tight script and Parvathy Thiruvothu’s performance. But because the demand for regional dubs was loud, and now unmet.
Netflix hasn’t confirmed if dubbed versions will follow. They might. But they haven’t said so yet. And that silence is louder than any trailer.
The film, directed by Shahad Nilambur and produced by Arjun Selva, features Mathew Thomas, Sidharth Bharathan, Vijayaraghavan, Vinay Forrt, and Tamil actor Parthiban in key roles. It’s a low-budget thriller that found its way into the mainstream without a big star or studio backing. That’s rare. And that’s why the lack of accessibility feels like a missed opportunity.
In a market where regional content drives engagement, skipping dubs on day one? That’s not just a technical choice. It’s a statement. Whether it’s strategic or careless remains to be seen.
But one thing’s clear: the audience didn’t come for subtitled cinema. They came for stories they can feel. And right now, they’re stuck listening. The next move?
Wait. Watch. Then ask again: what happens when a film wins hearts in theatre but loses them online?
