Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar review: Parvathy Thiruvothu's intense crime drama now on Netflix
Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar is streaming on Netflix — and it’s already being called the most intelligent Malayalam crime drama in years. The film, a taut psychological thriller starring Parvathy Thiruvothu as a grieving cop who finds herself at the centre of an accidental shooting, has drawn comparisons to the Drishyam franchise not for its twists, but for its relentless focus on intellect over spectacle.
The premise: four police officers, including Thiruvothu’s Aleena Abraham, accidentally kill a man inside their own station. Now they must choose between confessing, and facing prison. Or crafting a lie so flawless it might just hold. The twist?
They’re not the only ones playing chess. Enter Vijayaraghavan as DySP Harris Meeran, a sharp investigator whose personal history with Aleena adds layers of tension that aren’t just procedural, but deeply human. The film doesn’t rely on shock. It builds suspense through quiet moments, a glance, a hesitation, a line of dialogue delivered with cold precision.
And when the final revelation hits, it lands not with a bang, but with a slow, chilling realisation. That’s the brilliance of director Shahad and writers P. S. Subramanian and Vijesh Thottingal: they’ve made a story where every choice matters, and every silence speaks. Parvathy Thiruvothu delivers a performance so grounded it borders on uncanny.
You don’t watch her act, you witness a woman recalibrating her entire life in real time. Sidharth Bharathan, Matthew Thomas, and Unnimaya Prasad round out a cast that never slips into caricature. Even the score by Mujeeb Majeed feels like a character, low, pulsing, always one beat ahead. Cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj uses tight framing to trap the audience in the same claustrophobia the characters feel.
No wasted shots. No filler. Just a story that refuses to let go. It’s not a blockbuster.
It’s not loud. But it’s unforgettable. If you’re looking for a film that rewards attention, Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar is waiting on Netflix. Watch it.
Then rewatch it. See what you missed the first time.
