Nikhil Advani got personal on social media this week, and it wasn't about a release date or a box office number. It was about a phone call that came at exactly the right time.

The director, along with content creator turned actor Bhuvan Bam, was invited to Salman Khan's Galaxy residence for a private screening of their upcoming film The Revolutionaries. Advani used the occasion to post a photo dump on Instagram, a fresh picture with Salman alongside an older one from their first film together, and wrote a note that read less like a press caption and more like a letter.

"When I needed him the most, he called and put his hand on my shoulder," Advani wrote. "Suddenly everything seemed not to be so dark anymore. 20 yrs later, when I was proud of the work that I have done and wanted to show it to him, he once again put his hand on my shoulder. I am forever grateful."

He didn't specify what the low phase was. He didn't need to. The point of the post wasn't the backstory, it was the gesture repeating itself two decades apart.

A partnership that goes back to 2007

Advani and Salman first worked together on Salaam-E-Ishq, the sprawling multi-starrer that also had Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, John Abraham, Vidya Balan and Govinda on the call sheet. It was the kind of ensemble film Bollywood doesn't really attempt anymore, six intersecting love stories under one roof.

The two reunited in 2015 for Hero, where Salman stepped beyond acting and came on board as a producer. That's a different kind of trust than a cameo or a friendly favour, it means putting money and a banner behind someone's vision.

What's notable here is the shape of the relationship Advani is describing. Not a mentor handing out career advice, not a co-star trading pleasantries. Just someone who showed up when it mattered, twice, with two decades in between.

The screening itself points to where Advani's attention is right now. The Revolutionaries, which also stars Pratibha Ranta in what's been described as a fierce revolutionary role, is clearly building toward its own moment in the spotlight. Getting Salman Khan in a room to watch it early, at his own house no less, isn't nothing in an industry where access is currency.

No release date for The Revolutionaries has been mentioned alongside this development. But if a private screening at Galaxy is any indication, Advani's team is already working the room ahead of whenever that date lands.
