The actress joined Mumbai's Ganeshotsav crowds at Lalbaugcha Raja on Monday, three days ahead of her first web series landing on Netflix.
Parineeti Chopra picked a busy Monday to make her Ganeshotsav rounds. Back in Mumbai after a stretch in Delhi, the actress headed straight to Lalbaugcha Raja, the pandal that pulls the biggest crowds in the city every September, to seek blessings ahead of what's shaping up to be a big week for her career.
She showed up in a pink ethnic outfit, kept things simple with long statement earrings, and was seen smiling her way through the pandal as photos and videos of the visit spread across social media within hours. Nothing elaborate. Just a quick, festive stop before the real business of the week takes over.
And the real business is Shaque: Trust No One, Parineeti's first web series, which premieres on Netflix this Thursday, September 24. She's been on the promotional circuit for it, and the Lalbaugcha Raja visit reads like the last calm beat before that machine kicks into full gear.
The show comes from Rensil D'Silva and Siddharth P Malhotra, with D'Silva also directing. For an actress who's built her career almost entirely on the big screen, stepping into a streaming series is its own kind of debut, separate from whatever the film does at the box office. Trust matters differently on a platform where a bad first episode gets discussed within the hour.
Parineeti wasn't the only star at the pandal that day. Shah Rukh Khan turned up too, as did Daayra actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, both drawing their own share of phone cameras. Lalbaugcha Raja does that every year. It's less a single event than a rolling procession of famous faces mixed in with the lakhs of ordinary devotees who queue for hours, and this year is following the pattern.
For Parineeti, though, the timing is what makes the visit worth noting. Three days out from a platform debut is exactly when an actor wants a bit of good fortune on her side, whether she says so out loud or not. She didn't make any statement at the pandal beyond the visit itself, and there's no word yet on whether she'll do any last-minute promotional events before Thursday.
What's certain is the date. Shaque: Trust No One drops on Netflix on September 24, and that's when the actual verdict starts, not from Bappa, but from viewers deciding within the first episode whether they're staying for the rest.
