The actress sought Bappa's blessings on Monday as she gears up for her first web series, Shaque: Trust No One, which drops on Netflix this Wednesday.
Parineeti Chopra picked a busy Monday to squeeze in a pandal visit. The actress, back in Mumbai after a stretch in Delhi, made her way to Lalbaugcha Raja on September 21 to seek blessings ahead of what's shaping up to be a genuine career pivot: her first web series.
Shaque: Trust No One premieres on Netflix on September 24, and Chopra has spent the past weeks doing the rounds that come with it, trailers, interviews, the works. The Ganeshotsav stop wasn't strictly promotional, but the timing didn't hurt either.
So what did she wear to one of the city's most crowded pandals? A bright pink ethnic outfit, understated for a festive look, with long statement earrings doing the heavy lifting. Clips of her walking in, smiling, hands folded, were all over social media by evening.
She wasn't the only famous face there. Shah Rukh Khan turned up at Lalbaugcha Raja the same day, as did Daayra actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, both part of what's become an annual pilgrimage for Bollywood during Ganeshotsav. The pandal pulls in thousands of devotees every year regardless of who's in the queue, but the celebrity sightings are their own sideshow at this point.
For Chopra, though, the bigger story is what happens on September 24. Shaque: Trust No One is her entry into a space she's mostly stayed out of while her contemporaries built entire second careers on streaming. The series comes from Rensil D'Silva and Siddharth P Malhotra, with D'Silva also directing.
At the trailer launch, Chopra addressed a question that's followed her through this promotional cycle, the debate around whether motherhood slows down an actress's career. Her response, as reported by Bollywood Hungama, was characteristically blunt: "I can't wait to retire at 50, 60 or 70 and then get pregnant, right?" It's the kind of line that tells you she's not particularly interested in managing the narrative around it.
Whether Shaque delivers is a separate question, one that'll get answered fast once it's out. Netflix thrillers either land in the first weekend or they don't, and word travels quicker than the show itself these days. For now, Chopra's got three days left of promotion, a pandal visit already banked, and a debut that could reset how the industry talks about her next decade.
September 24 is the date that matters. Everything before it, blessings included, is just the buildup.
