The actor says two armed men pistol-whipped him outside a West Hollywood grocery store and fled with his Rolex, an incident captured on security cameras.
Keegan Allen says he nearly lost his life over a watch. The actor, best known for playing Toby Cavanaugh on Pretty Little Liars, posted a graphic video to Instagram on Thursday night showing blood running down his face after what he described as an armed robbery outside the high-end West Hollywood grocer Laurel Supply.
"Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have! God said no tonight," Allen wrote alongside the footage, adding, "My life for a watch."
According to security video Allen shared, he was loading groceries into his truck in the store's parking lot when two men in black approached him. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office told TMZ that one suspect pointed a handgun at Allen while the other brandished a knife, demanding his watch and bracelet. The gunman then allegedly pistol-whipped Allen before the pair fled in a vehicle with just the watch.
Paramedics treated Allen at the scene for a head laceration. He wasn't taken to hospital but told followers he went for a checkup afterward and suspects he's "def concussed." In the video, he can be heard saying, "These two dudes hit me in the head and pointed a gun at me with a knife and then took off."
The Citizen app reported the stolen watch was a Rolex, though that detail hasn't been confirmed by police or by Allen himself. He did push back on anyone focused on the object rather than the attack, writing in a comment, "Ya the watch is a bummer, but having a gun and a knife in my face and then being brutally hit across the face and head was so unnecessary."
Allen used the incident to take a swing at local leadership, name-checking Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom over what he called rising crime. "Let's hope all these flock cameras that Karen Bass, Gavin Newsom and everyone thinks will stop crime can find these very dangerous criminals," he wrote. Variety pointed out a wrinkle in that complaint: Bass governs the city of Los Angeles, not West Hollywood, which runs its own separate municipal government despite being surrounded by it.
No arrests have been announced. Neither the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office nor Allen's representatives have released further details beyond what's already circulating, and Variety said it had reached out to his team for comment.
Allen, who also played Liam Walker on The CW's Walker and appeared on ABC's The Rookie earlier this year, told fans he'd share updates as they come. For now, the investigation into who approached him in that parking lot, and whether the Rolex detail holds up, remains open.
