The trailer for River dropped on October 12, and it’s already making the rounds like a ghost in a locked cabin. Jane Levy, Jessica Rothe, and Max Mattern are back in the woods — this time not to escape trauma, but to be hunted by something that doesn’t need a name.
The film, a slasher with roots in the quiet dread of family fractures and isolation, premiered at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival under Midnight Madness, where it reportedly left audiences breathless. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster have since picked it up, setting a January 15, 2027 release. That’s less than four months away.
No delays. No reshoots. Just a straight shot into theaters. The killer?
