Sai Pallavi Says Ramayana Part 2 Shoot Hasn't Begun

The Sita actor's comment at Ramayana's Los Angeles premiere lands days before Part 1's November 5 release and raises fresh questions about the sequel's 2027 target.

Sai Pallavi dropped a small bombshell on the Ramayana red carpet. Asked point blank whether both parts of the Nitesh Tiwari epic had been shot together, the actor who plays Sita didn't dress it up. "I haven't started filming yet," she said, catching the journalist off guard, according to a video that's been doing the rounds since the Los Angeles premiere.

That premiere happened on October 27, at the David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, an invite-only 3D screening with a Diwali-themed carpet. Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi all walked it, alongside a clutch of international guests, as Bollywood Hungama reported. Part 1 of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opens in theatres on November 5.

The twist is that Part 2 was always meant to follow fast, pencilled in for 2027. Sai Pallavi's admission suggests that timeline is tighter than anyone outside the production probably realised, since her portions for the sequel apparently haven't gone before the camera at all. Nobody on the team has addressed the gap publicly yet, so whether this is a scheduling quirk or a sign the 2027 date needs revisiting is anyone's guess right now.

Social media, predictably, ran with it. One fan account on X took her line as confirmation that Part 2 won't actually land until 2028, though that's internet math, not anything the makers or Sai Pallavi herself have said. Worth remembering: a late start to shooting doesn't automatically mean a slipped release, especially on a project with this kind of post-production machinery behind it.

And that machinery is considerable. Ramayana is a two-part adaptation built around Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, with Nitesh Tiwari directing and Namit Malhotra producing. Yash is also attached as a producer. The score is split between Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, and the visual effects run through DNEG, the kind of international pairing the trade has been talking up for months as proof of the film's scale.

For now, the only confirmed date is November 5, for Part 1. Whether Sai Pallavi's Sita portions for the second chapter get shot in time to hold that 2027 window is the next thing worth watching, and it's a question the producers will have to answer sooner rather than later, given how loudly fans have already started speculating.
