Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana lands on November 5, 2026 — a date that now lives in the calendar like a promise. The film, long whispered about, has finally been pinned down: Part 1 hits theatres worldwide on Diwali’s eve, with advance bookings opening this Dussehra. The makers dropped the news on Navratri, as if timing the announcement to the rhythm of the gods themselves. A new ensemble poster confirms the cast: Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Yash as Ravana, the latter looming over the others like a storm cloud. Sunny Deol steps into Hanuman’s boots. The visual language is clear: good vs. Evil, not just in conflict but in scale. Ravana towers. The rest are small. It’s a statement before the first frame rolls. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the film is being built as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Hindu epic. Part 2 is scheduled for a Diwali 2027 release. The story will follow Lord Rama’s journey, his exile, Ravana’s abduction of Sita, and the battle that follows between the forces of good and evil. The production aims to recreate the mythological world through grand visuals, elaborate sets, detailed costumes, and extensive visual effects. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman have come together to compose the score. Action choreography is handled by Terry Notary and Guy Norris. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam across India, with premium formats including IMAX. Sony Pictures will distribute the film globally (excluding India), while Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions will oversee distribution in the Hindi-speaking market. The announcement was made via social media by The World Of Ramayana, with the caption: “On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, we celebrate the beginning of a new era. Yeh Ram ke Yug ka Aarambh hai. 🏹 Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Part 1: In cinemas WORLDWIDE, across all premium formats, from 5th November. Advance bookings open on Dussehra.” The poster also features Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chadha as Manthara in separate character reveals. This isn’t just a movie. It’s an event. And it’s coming. November 5. Bookings open. The countdown begins.
