Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor don't do red carpets often as a pair. Thursday night, at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, they did. Hand in hand, both in black, both clearly enjoying themselves at the premiere of Taylor's new Apple TV comedy Brothers.

Paulson is 51. Taylor is 83. They've been a couple since 2015, though the story goes back further than that. They first met at a dinner party in 2005, both of them with other partners at the time. Nothing happened. Then, close to a decade on, Taylor reconnected with Paulson online, sliding into her Twitter DMs, of all things. That was the start of it. They went public with the relationship in 2016.

Thursday's outing had a purpose beyond date night. Brothers, which also stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, premieres September 23, and Taylor posed with her co-stars before the two women headed into the after-party together. Paulson wore a cropped long-sleeved jacket over a floor-length skirt, showing a slice of midriff. Taylor went for a sparkling black dress with a sheer overlay. Coordinated, but not identical.

What's notable, if you've followed this relationship for any length of time, is how rare these appearances are. Paulson has said the two don't actually live together, and she's framed that as the whole point. In 2024 she called separate homes the secret to why the relationship works, while adding that whenever they are together, they fall asleep holding hands. Make of that what you will. It seems to be working.

It's been more than a decade now, and Taylor has had her own moment to mark it. In December 2025, she spoke at Paulson's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, describing their time together as, in her words, the adventure you've always wanted your life to be. Paulson has returned the sentiment plenty of times over the years. Back in 2023 she called Taylor the smartest, wisest, funniest, most extraordinary person she'd ever met. That's not a line thrown around lightly at 51.

The two also turned up together at the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscars party, another hand-in-hand carpet walk, so Thursday wasn't a one-off return to public life. It's just not the default. For a couple that guards its privacy this carefully, showing up together for a film Taylor is genuinely proud of says something on its own.

Brothers hits Apple TV on September 23. Whether Paulson and Taylor turn up for anything else around the release remains to be seen.
