Shah Rukh Khan ran an Ask SRK session on X this week, his first in roughly ten and a half months, and one exchange has quietly become the more interesting story out of it. A fan asked if he'd seen Dhurandhar. His answer: "Loved both the parts....fantastic by the whole team!!!"

Turns out he'd seen it before almost anyone else had a chance to.

According to a source Bollywood Hungama spoke to, Shah Rukh watched Dhurandhar The Revenge a full day before its release, ahead of the general public entirely. He's said to have personally asked director Aditya Dhar to set up the screening, and Dhar obliged. The venue was a preview theatre owned by Salman Khan. Shah Rukh reportedly brought his whole family, and Karan Johar joined him too. Whether Salman himself was in the room is something the source couldn't confirm either way.

It's not the first time that particular screening room has hosted an industry crowd ahead of a release. Salman used the same space to show a rough cut of his own upcoming film, Maatrubhumi, to a room that included Subhash Ghai, David Dhawan, Sooraj Barjatya, Kabir Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Rumy Jafry and Siddharth Roy Kapur, among others. Director Apoorva Lakhia and Salman's Maatrubhumi co-star Chitrangda Singh were there as well.

After the Dhurandhar screening, the source says Shah Rukh sought Aditya Dhar out to tell him directly how much he'd enjoyed the film, and that Dhar was moved to get that kind of reaction from one of the industry's biggest names.

Dhurandhar and its sequel, Dhurandhar The Revenge, follow an Indian intelligence operative who infiltrates a gang in Lyari, Karachi, and works his way up through its ranks over the course of the story. The films star Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.

None of this has been confirmed on record by Shah Rukh, Salman, Karan Johar or Aditya Dhar. It comes from a single trade source, and the details around who exactly was in that theatre remain a bit hazy beyond the broad strokes. What's on record is simpler: SRK watched the film, and he liked it enough to say so publicly, unprompted by any studio machinery. The rest is the industry doing what it does best, filling in the gaps with a scoop nobody's officially denied.

What happens next is the more predictable part. Dhurandhar The Revenge is already out, and how audiences respond over its opening weekend will matter a lot more to Aditya Dhar than one superstar's private screening, however flattering.
