Sreeleela has officially joined Rajinikanth in Dharman, marking her first collaboration with the Superstar and another major step in her rapid ascent through Tamil cinema. The announcement came via Raaj Kamal Films International on Wednesday, which shared a promotional video welcoming her to the project with the caption: “She’s got the spark.

She’s got the pataka.” The film, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu — known for Oh My Kadavule (2020) and the 2025 hit Dragon, represents his debut pairing with Rajinikanth, a move that’s already generating buzz for its blend of contemporary storytelling and legacy star power. Production is now entering its final stretch after wrapping the third schedule in late September, with recent additions including Nayanthara and Sreeleela.

The ensemble cast also includes Simran, Yogi Babu, and Raashii Khanna, making it one of the most stacked lineups in upcoming Tamil releases. Rajinikanth plays a doctor described as a ‘Ketta Paiyan’, a reference to his iconic role in J Mahendran’s 1978 film Mullum Malarum. Early posters show him with blood smeared across his hands, suggesting a morally ambiguous or darker character arc, a notable shift from his usual heroic persona.

The film is being produced under Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International banner, alongside R Mahendran of Turmeric Media. Anirudh Ravichander returns to compose the music, continuing his streak since Petta (2019), with the duo having worked together on six films including Jailer 2 (2026). Technical credits include cinematographer Niketh Bommi, stunt choreographers Anbariv, editor Pradeep E Ragav, and production designer Karthik Rajkumar.

While no official release date has been announced, reports suggest a theatrical launch in April 2027. For Sreeleela, this is not just a career milestone but part of a deliberate expansion: she made her Tamil debut earlier this year in Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, followed by roles in Dhanush’s Om and Ajith Kumar’s Daredevil, both set for 2027.

With four high-profile projects in a single year, she’s positioning herself as a key player in the new wave of South Indian cinema. Whether Dharman delivers on its promise of reinvention remains to be seen, but the momentum is undeniable.
