Rajinikanth’s action film Dharman is reportedly entering its final shooting phase in November 2026, with a Pongal 2027 theatrical launch on the cards.
Rajinikanth’s next big-screen outing, Dharman, is inching toward wrap-up. According to reports from Valai Pechu, the film will pause shooting in October 2026 before resuming in November for its final schedule. If confirmed, this would mark the end of principal photography, with plans to release the film during the Pongal 2027 festival window.
The film, once referred to by the working title Thalaivar173, stars Rajinikanth as a stylish doctor, a role that adds a new layer to his ever-expanding cinematic persona. Alongside him are Simran Bagga, Yogi Babu, and Raashii Khanna in pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, Niketh Bommireddy handles cinematography, and Pradeep E. Ragav edits the film. Action choreography is being managed by the Anbariv duo.
Ram Pothineni is said to be cast in the lead antagonist role, though the makers have not officially confirmed this. The film’s narrative remains under wraps, but early buzz suggests a high-octane mix of drama and spectacle, consistent with Rajinikanth’s recent output.
This follows closely on the heels of Jailer 2, which is already in theaters. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 sees Rajinikanth reprise his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, now going undercover as a driver to dismantle a powerful criminal empire. The film features SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, and rumored cameos from Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, Shiva Rajkumar, and Vijay Sethupathi. It released on October 15, 2026.
While Dharman’s final schedule and release date remain unverified by the producers, the momentum behind the film is clear. With Pongal 2027 looming as a major box office window, the timing aligns with industry expectations for a Rajinikanth-led spectacle. Whether it hits the screen as planned depends on the final green light from the studio — but the signs point to a late-year finish.
For fans, the wait is almost over. Just one more stretch of filming, and the world gets another chapter in the Rajinikanth saga.
