Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action thriller King has just made history in Indian cinema — not for its cast or director, but for the price it fetched overseas. The film, set for a December 24, 2026 release, has secured a Rs 175 crore overseas distribution deal with Dubai-based Phars Films, according to trade reports from TeluguCinema.com, 123telugu.com, and Telugu360.
This marks the highest-ever overseas theatrical deal for any Indian film, surpassing the previous benchmark of Rs 100 crore. The agreement is reportedly on a Minimum Guarantee (MG) basis, a rare structure for Bollywood productions, meaning the distributor commits to paying that sum regardless of box office performance. Yash Raj Films, initially expected to handle international distribution, was outbid by Phars Films, which offered a higher figure.
The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, known for War and Pathaan, reunites SRK with his daughter Suhana Khan in their first on-screen father-daughter pairing. Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, and Raghav Juyal are also part of the ensemble cast. While SRK’s films have long dominated overseas markets, particularly in North America, the Gulf, the UK, and Australia, this deal signals a new level of confidence from international distributors.
