The LA premiere of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana didn’t just launch a film—it launched a rumor war. With no official word on casting or release dates, fans are already betting on Sunny Deol as Hanuman and a 2028 sequel. The truth? Still locked behind the curtain.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend premiered at the David Geffen Theatre in Los Angeles on October 27, marking the first public glimpse of the epic’s grand scale. The invite-only screening, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures — a venue known for hosting major Hollywood premieres, drew a star-studded crowd including Yash, who plays Ravana, producer Namit Malhotra, and director Nitesh Tiwari.
The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, was screened in 3D to an audience of 945. While the full film hasn’t yet released in India, reactions from journalists present at the event have already begun circulating online. Among them, entertainment journalist and film critic @RamasScreen shared a review on X (formerly Twitter), calling the film ‘spectacular’ and praising its visuals, choreography, music, and action sequences.
He described it as one of the year’s most immersive cinematic experiences, with particular acclaim for Ranbir Kapoor’s performance and Yash’s magnetic screen presence. But beyond the praise, a single line ignited speculation: ‘Yes, Ramayana Rise of a Legend has a post-credit scene. And the post-credit scene teases that one iconic character that you've all been anticipating.
You know who I'm talkin' about.’ The comment immediately sparked a wave of fan theories. Many are convinced the mystery figure is Lord Hanuman, with several users pointing to Sunny Deol as the likely casting choice. Comments flooded in: ‘It's probably the legend Hanuman,’ ‘theatres are going to explode. Pawan putra is coming,’ and ‘One and only Jai Hanuman.’ Yet no official confirmation exists.
The same critic also addressed the sequel’s release window when asked by a fan whether Part 2 would still arrive during Diwali 2027. His reply: ‘2028.’ That single word has since fueled speculation that the follow-up may have been delayed to avoid a clash with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, starring Prabhas.
However, neither the production team nor any studio representative has confirmed this shift. For now, the only firm date is November 5, the scheduled theatrical release of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. Until then, the buzz will keep building, driven not by footage or announcements, but by a tweet, a hint, and the hunger for what comes next.
