Suriya’s Scene lands in theatres on November 6 — Diwali day, marking the third film release from the actor this year, a pace not seen since his 2009 run of Maayavi, Ghajini, and Aaru. The film, described by distributor Sakthivelan of Sakthi Film Factory as a genre-blending crime thriller with comedy elements, is set to open with a strong theatrical push.

He said the story kicks off fast, hits its peak during the interval block, and delivers six major theatrical moments in the second half, each offering an intense experience. The audio and trailer launch event brought together cast and crew, along with special guests, for a celebration of what they see as a fresh cinematic direction.

Karthi, who shares screen space with Suriya, called Scene an entirely unexpected outing, a dark comedy that reimagines Suriya’s iconic Singam dialogue in a satirical, ironic context. He also shared a lighter moment about Suriya and Jyotika’s recent vow renewal ceremony, joking that their visible affection made other couples at the event feel self-conscious.

He admitted people teased him after seeing them together, but praised the ceremony as beautiful and heartfelt. Naslen, stepping into the role of antagonist, confessed he felt nervous working opposite Suriya, someone he’s long admired. When asked if his character was naturally quiet or acting it out, he joked that the villain wasn’t entirely bad, just innocent.

Nazriya Nazim, returning to Tamil cinema after 12 years, called the project a dream come true. She credited Suriya for making it happen, saying she’d missed earlier chances to work with him. Jithu Madhavan, the director, addressed the wave of online speculation surrounding the film. He reminded audiences that three teasers and one full trailer had already been released, urging viewers to rely on those rather than rumours.

He also joked that he never saw Naslen as a romantic lead, which explains the casting choice. Suriya, speaking at the event, reflected on the year’s significance, not just for the volume of releases, but for the variety. He noted that Karuppu came together quickly, while Vishwanath and Sons earned appreciation despite early doubts over its family entertainer format.

He stressed that he always wants his films to be unpredictable. Describing Scene as a mix of murder, mystery, madness, and laughter, he urged audiences to leave expectations behind and approach it with an open mind. He thanked the teams behind Ramayana and Mookuthi Amman 2 for accommodating the release window, and specifically acknowledged Dhanush for postponing OM: Chapter 1 after learning of Scene’s Diwali plans.

One of the most personal moments came when Suriya spoke about Jyotika, calling her the best mother, friend, and life partner. He said choosing a life partner is different from choosing family. She’s guided him through life’s phases and stood by him through mistakes. Her strength as an actor and as a person, he said, remains unmatched.
