Scene’s Pre-Release Surge:

4 Crore in Advance Bookings, But the Weekend Is Just Beginning

Just two days before its theatrical debut, Suriya’s Tamil film Scene has crossed ₹4 crore in advance ticket sales — a strong start for a Diwali weekend release. According to data from Sacnilk, the film earned ₹4.33 crore across four shows by November 4 morning, with bookings opening on the night of November 3 and spiking through the next day.

Tamil Nadu leads the pack with ₹2.05 crore, followed closely by Kerala at ₹1.55 crore.

Karnataka contributed ₹36.89 lakh, while Telugu states added ₹15 lakh. The film is set to open in over 550 screens in Kerala alone, one of Suriya’s widest releases in the state, thanks to distributor Sree Gokulam Movies. In Tamil Nadu, Sakthi Film Factory holds the distribution rights.

The numbers reflect early momentum, but they’re not the full picture.

Trade experts estimate that Scene has already sold 2.37 lakh tickets across 2,528 shows in more than 500 theaters. More screens are expected to open in the coming hours as demand builds.

Director Jithu Madhavan, known for the 2024 Mollywood blockbuster Aavesham, makes his Tamil debut with this project. He reunites with composer Sushin Shyam, who also steps into Tamil cinema for the first time.

The film stars Suriya alongside Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, Lal, Anandraj, and Raj Priyan, a mix that’s drawing attention in both regional markets.

But the path to a strong opening isn’t clear. Scene hits theatres on November 6, facing stiff competition from Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana: Part 1, which is releasing nationwide. In Tamil Nadu, it also clashes with Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2.

In Kerala, director Ullas Chemban’s Disco arrives on the same day, adding another layer to the crowded slate.

Suriya has had two major releases this year, Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons, both of which performed well. Now, he’s aiming to make Scene his biggest opener of 2026. To surpass his previous high-water mark, the film would need over ₹24 crore in its opening weekend.

His highest-grossing post-COVID release remains Kanguva (2024). For this year, a ₹16 crore opening day would be enough to claim the top spot.

With festive season energy and strong pre-sales, the film is positioned for a solid launch. But the real test comes when audiences walk into theaters, not just click ‘book’ online.

The box office battle begins Friday.
