The couple, who share a first name themselves, revealed their newborn's middle name settles the running joke about who gets to be called Taylor.
Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay are parents now. The couple welcomed a baby girl on September 16, and this Wednesday they finally told the internet, posting a photo with the caption: "One week loving our sweet little Lenny. Lennon Taylor Lautner. 9.16.2026."
So the mystery is solved. For months, Tay had been fielding the same question everywhere she went: would the baby get named Taylor, given that both parents already carry the name? She'd raised it herself back in August on Call Her Daddy, telling host Alex Cooper it was "in the mix" but that she wasn't sure. "I feel like if I don't name my baby Taylor, the internet's literally gonna cancel me," she said then, only half joking. "But I'm like, guys, are you really gonna want that name?"
The answer, it turns out, was a compromise. Taylor became the middle name. Lennon got top billing, and Lenny is what she'll go by around the house, apparently.
The couple, who've been going by "Boy Tay" and "Girl Tay" among friends since they share a full name, started dating in 2018 after being introduced by Taylor's sister the year before. He proposed in November 2021, and they got married the following year in Templeton, California. Their three-year anniversary post last November had Taylor writing that he was "still touching heaven," which, fine, it's a phrase.
They announced the pregnancy in March, and a month later revealed on Instagram they were expecting a girl, with Taylor captioning a bump photo "What's better than two Taylor Lautners?" Tay later said on the Squeeze podcast, which the two co-host, that Taylor had wanted a daughter specifically. "He's, like, girl dad," she said. "He wants all girls."
Pregnancy itself wasn't something Tay pretended to enjoy. Back in May, on the same podcast, she admitted to having what she called a meltdown over it. "I don't think I like being pregnant," she said at the time, adding that she knew it sounded bad to say out loud but that the physical toll had genuinely worn her down.
None of that shows in this week's photo. Lenny arrived in Virgo season, as Tay's caption pointed out, and the couple looks about as settled into new parenthood as any first-timers can look one week in. Whether Taylor Lautner, 34, best known for a certain werewolf role a generation of readers grew up on, turns out to be the girl dad Tay promised is now something we'll actually get to watch play out, one Instagram post at a time.
