Taylor Swift Releases Four New Songs On Showgirl Encore

The deluxe edition adds Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Pink Clouding and Babylon to last year's album, pushing the total tracklist to sixteen songs.

Taylor Swift wasn't done with The Life of a Showgirl. Not by a long shot.

On Friday, the singer released a four-track encore to her 2025 album, quietly turning what fans thought was a closed chapter into a sixteen-song record. The new tracks are Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Pink Clouding and Babylon, and they arrived a year almost to the day after the original album dropped on October 3, 2025.

Swift had flagged this on Wednesday, telling fans on Instagram she'd gone to Sweden with regular collaborators Max Martin and Shellback after last year's release to write more material. "I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude," she wrote, framing the encore as a thank-you for the album's record-setting opening week.

Patient Zero opens the set and it's the one people are talking about most. Swift casts herself as the woman who got there first, the one who understands exactly what an ex's new girlfriend is going through because she went through it herself. "If you're sick of him, I got you, I was patient zero," she sings, describing a call from the new partner confiding about the same relationship trouble Swift once lived through. Page Six read it as a girl's-girl anthem for anyone dating one of her exes, though the song doesn't name anybody and neither has Swift.

Cleveland! Is the one carrying the most direct references to husband Travis Kelce, whom Swift married on July 3. She runs through a list of criticisms lobbed at her over the years, her looks, her dancing, her fashion choices, before shrugging them off because, in her words, her "baby likes what he likes." The title nods to Kelce's hometown of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and later in the song she references wearing white, a clear callback to the wedding.

Pink Clouding leans into the apologetic-narrator mode Swift has used before on songs like Getaway Car. The title borrows a term from addiction recovery, describing the early euphoria that masks harm being done. "I was pink clouding from the thrill of it," she sings, before apologising to someone she may have hurt without meaning to. Who that someone is remains open to interpretation, though some fans online have connected the lyrics to her recent reconciliation with longtime friend Karlie Kloss ahead of the wedding.

Babylon closes the encore and revisits imagery Swift has used before, most on Folklore's cowboy like me, where Babylon stood in for a lover who "hangs from my lips like the Gardens of Babylon." Here it becomes a story about a relationship undone by ambition and money, though as with most Swift lyrics, it may or may not map onto anything that actually happened to her.

The timing isn't incidental. The Life of a Showgirl is nominated for best album at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, where Swift is set to premiere the music video for Patient Zero. Expect the internet's Easter-egg hunting to run straight through the weekend.
