The Mummy Returns picked things up years later, married the leads off, and had them chasing down their kidnapped son while Imhotep tangled with Dwayne Johnson's Scorpion King. By the third film, the tone shifts hard. Weisz sat that one out, replaced by Maria Bello, and the setting jumps to postwar China, where an older Rick and Evelyn face off against Jet Li's resurrected emperor. Only Fraser and John Hannah, who plays Evelyn's brother Jonathan, stuck around for all three.

Why any of this matters beyond a streaming deadline: a fourth Mummy film is reportedly moving forward, and according to Collider, it's not starting from scratch with a new cast. Fraser, Weisz, Hannah and Oded Fehr, who played the warrior Ardeth Bay, are all said to be attached to reprise their roles. No title, no release date, nothing official from a studio has surfaced yet beyond that reporting, so treat the specifics as fluid until a studio actually confirms them.

Still, the timing lines up in an odd, useful way. A new entry reportedly bringing back the 1999 cast is exactly the kind of news that sends people back to the originals, and for the next few days, doing that costs nothing. Tubi's free catalog is deep, but licensing windows like this one tend to close without much warning once the month flips over.

So the practical takeaway is simple. If you want the Fraser trilogy for free, this is the weekend, not next month. And if a fourth Mummy movie with most of its 1999 cast intact does materialize, the obvious follow-up question is whether Sommers himself has anything to do with it, because nobody's said that part yet.
