The London-set heist film has now spent over a hundred days inside Apple TV's most-watched list while also cracking HBO Max's top 10 for more than a week straight.
Fuze isn't a new release. It came out earlier this year and mostly slipped past without much fanfare. And yet, months later, it's still sitting inside Apple TV's top 10 most-watched movies list, a run that's now crossed 100 days, according to Collider. On HBO Max, the film has held a top 10 spot for more than a week.
That's an unusual shape for a streaming hit. Most films spike hard on release week and fade fast. Fuze has done the opposite, building an audience slowly across platforms long after its initial drop.
The film is a heist thriller set in London. The premise: an unexploded World War II bomb turns up at a construction site, forcing a citywide evacuation, and a crew uses the chaos as cover to pull off a careful planned robbery. It's the kind of high-concept setup that sounds like a trailer pitch, and by most accounts it plays that way too, with things twisting more than once before the credits roll.
David Mackenzie directed it, working from a script by Ben Hopkins. Mackenzie's name carries weight with a certain crowd, mostly because of Hell or High Water, the Taylor Sheridan-written crime drama that's still held up as one of the sharper genre films of the last decade. Fuze sits at 72% with critics and 78% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, per Collider, numbers that suggest a film critics were lukewarm on but that audiences actually enjoyed watching.
The James factor
Much of the renewed attention traces back to Theo James, who's had a stacked few years even by the standard of actors trying to cross over into bigger action roles. He was part of The White Lotus's second season alongside Aubrey Plaza, then teamed up with Osgood Perkins on The Monkey opposite Tatiana Maslany. Long before that, of course, there was Divergent, the trilogy that ran three films across three straight years in the mid-2010s, back when studios still bet on that kind of release rhythm.
He's also voicing Bastion on Marvel's X-Men '97, and he leads Guy Ritchie's Netflix crime drama The Gentlemen, which Collider says is still inside the platform's global top 10. Fuze had him sharing screen time with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, fresh off Kraven the Hunter, and Sam Worthington, back from Avatar: Fire and Ash.
None of the studios or streamers involved have flagged a specific reason for the late surge, whether it's word of mouth, algorithm placement, or something else entirely. What's clear is that Fuze isn't going anywhere from these charts just yet, and with James juggling X-Men '97 and a second season of The Gentlemen, his 2026 slate is only getting fuller from here.
