Virender Sehwag has added his name to the list of people vouching for Vibe, and he's doing it as a father who takes his kids to the movies most weekends.

In comments to Bollywood Hungama, the former opener said he caught Kunal Kemmu's new film in theatres and walked out impressed. "Vibe is also good, the concept is very great," he said, adding that he'd liked Kemmu's earlier film Madgaon Express too. Sehwag mentioned he tries to catch a film with his children every Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and Vibe was this week's pick.

It's a small endorsement in the grand scheme of things, but it comes at a useful moment for the film. Vibe opened on September 18 and, per Bollywood Hungama's box office tracking, hit a rough patch on Monday before clawing back some ground on Tuesday with a 15.56 percent jump, taking its running total past Rs 8.5 crore. Not a runaway number, but not a film sliding off screens either.

Kemmu wrote and directed Vibe, and produced it with Chirag Nihalani under their Drongo Films banner. The film follows two friends whose ordinary lives get upended by one unpredictable turn after another, mixing action, comedy and a soundtrack that's been getting its own share of attention. Alongside Kemmu, the cast includes Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir, with Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav in supporting parts. Amazon MGM Studios backed the release.

What's notable here is less the cricket connection and more the pattern building around Vibe. Reactions from critics and audiences have skewed positive since the release, and now a recognisable name outside the industry is amplifying that word of mouth in his own voice. That matters for a mid-scale action comedy without a mega-star anchor, where the difference between a film that holds and one that fades often comes down to exactly this kind of organic chatter doing the marketing department's job for free.

Whether Sehwag's comment moves the needle at the box office is impossible to say. But Vibe now has a full week behind it, an audience that seems to be actually talking about the film rather than just the trailer, and a Tuesday recovery that gives it a fighting chance heading into its second weekend. The next few days, and whatever Friday-to-Sunday numbers follow, will tell us if that bump holds or if Monday's dip was the real signal.
