S Cube Films, the banner behind Uyare and Janaki Jaane, is backing the untitled project, with Ratheena co-writing the script alongside Suhas-Sharfu.
Vismaya Mohanlal isn't wasting time between films. Barely months after her debut in Thudakkam, she's signed on as the lead in a new Malayalam project directed by Arun Bose, according to Onmanorama. The makers dropped a first-look poster on Friday, and the pooja ceremony is expected to happen soon, with the shoot to follow.
The production house behind it, S Cube Films, has a track record worth noting. Uyare and Janaki Jaane both came out of that banner, and both were built around women at the centre of the story. This one continues that pattern. The company is run by Shenuga, Shegna and Sherga, who are producing.
What's got people in the industry talking is the writing team. Ratheena, who directed Puzhu and Paathirathri, has co-written the screenplay this time instead of stepping behind the camera. She's working alongside the writing duo Suhas and Sharfu, whose credits include Varathan, Virus and Rifle Club. That's a fairly loaded combination on paper, three writers who've each had a hand in some of the more talked-about Malayalam scripts of the last few years.
The technical crew is filling out too. Samuel Henry is on cinematography, Mahesh Bhuvanend will edit, and Hesham Abdul Wahab is composing the music. Ashik S takes care of production design, and Sameera Saneesh is handling costumes. It's a full unit assembled well before a single frame has rolled, which usually signals the makers are treating this as more than a quick follow-up vehicle for their new lead.
What nobody's said yet, at least not publicly, is what the film's actually about. No title, no plot details, no co-stars named. Onmanorama's report doesn't mention them either, so for now this is a poster and a crew list, not a synopsis.
That's not unusual for Malayalam productions at this stage. Announcements often land months before a script is locked for shooting, and cast beyond the lead gets revealed closer to the actual start date. Given the pooja is described as imminent, though, the wait for more details shouldn't stretch too long.
For Vismaya, the bigger story here is momentum. One film in, and she's already attached to a project with a director, writers and a producer known for backing woman-led films rather than treating them as an afterthought. Whether that translates into another notable performance is the thing to watch once the shoot actually gets underway and the makers start filling in the blanks they've left open.
