Yash has just crossed 1100 crore net at the Indian box office in the post-COVID era, according to Koimoi's tracking of his two theatrical releases since 2022. The number is 1103.3 crore net, and it comes at an odd moment, right as his comeback film Toxic is limping to a disappointing close.

Here's the math. KGF Chapter 2 opened in 2022 on the back of one of the loudest pre-release campaigns Indian cinema had seen in years, and it delivered, eventually settling at 859.7 crore net domestically. That run alone makes it the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Yash then went quiet for three years before returning with Toxic, a big-budget swing that had buzz to match its scale.

Toxic's opening day lived up to the hype. But the drop from day two was sharp, the kind that tells you word of mouth turned bad fast. Fifteen days in, the film sits at 243.6 crore net and looks set to close under the 250 crore mark, a number nowhere close to recovering its reported budget. By most trade readings, that makes Toxic a flop, whatever the opening weekend suggested.

And yet, add the two numbers together and Yash has still pushed past 1100 crore net domestically since the industry reopened after the pandemic. That's a big total built off just two films, which says something about how much weight KGF Chapter 2 alone is still carrying. Toxic's contribution is real but modest next to it.

This isn't Yash's first big number this month. A few days ago he crossed 1500 crore at the worldwide box office in the same post-COVID window, a tally that folds in overseas collections from both films. Domestic and worldwide milestones landing back to back gives the actor's camp something to point to even while Toxic's failure gets dissected in trade circles.

What it doesn't change is the ground reality for Toxic itself. With 15 days gone and collections flattening out, there's little left for the film to add. Koimoi's own read is that this milestone is probably the last meaningful number Toxic's theatrical run produces.

The bigger question is what Yash does next. Two films and one clear miss in four years is not the release rhythm of a pan-India superstar at the top of his game, and Toxic's collapse will likely shape how cautiously his next project gets mounted. No new film has been announced yet. For an actor whose brand still rests almost entirely on a 2022 hit, the wait for the next release just got more scrutinised.
