Ajith Kumar's next film finally has a name, a director on record and a date on the calendar. Dare Devil goes on floors November 2, 2026, and the person putting up the money is his wife.

Shalini Ajithkumar is producing the project under a brand-new banner called Bravehearts Production, her first credit as a producer. That's the headline here, more than the title itself. This film has been stuck for over a year, and the reason it's unstuck now is a family solution to a money problem nobody else wanted to solve.

Here's what held things up. Ajith's remuneration demand reportedly pushed the film's total budget well past ₹300 crore once everything was added in. Multiple production houses circled the project, according to Track Tollywood, and each one walked away when the numbers stopped making sense. No outside studio was willing to carry that kind of risk on a single film, however big the star. So the project sat in limbo, fed by speculation and not much else, for months.

With Shalini backing it herself, that math is presumably somebody else's problem now, or at least a problem the family is choosing to own.

The reunions doing the talking

Dare Devil reunites Ajith with director Adhik Ravichandran, who last worked with him on Good Bad Ugly. That was a hit, so the pairing isn't a gamble in itself. Adhik has also written the script.

The music is where the sentiment really sits. Anirudh Ravichander is composing, bringing him back into an Ajith film after Vedalam and, more recently, Vidaamuyarchi. Three collaborations now, and each one has come with its own weight of expectation from the fandom, going by the noise already building around this one online.

The first-look poster leans into the title without overexplaining it. Ajith's in an all-white suit, red-tinted glasses, seated in a red leather chair with a die held up in one hand. High stakes, dressed sharp. It's a clean visual and it does the job a first look is supposed to do, which is make you want the next one.

What we don't have yet is a cast list beyond Ajith, or any word on where this sits in his release schedule against whatever else is on his plate. Vidaamuyarchi's run isn't that far behind him, and Dare Devil now becomes the film his fans will be counting down to next.

November 2 is the number to watch. That's when cameras roll, and that's when the actual film, as opposed to the year of speculation around it, starts to exist.
