Alia Bhatt has a new engagement on her calendar, and it has nothing to do with a film release. She'll be presenting one of the five Earthshot Prize awards at the ceremony's 2026 edition, set to unfold in Mumbai in front of roughly 5,000 guests, according to Bollywood Hungama.

She won't be doing it alone. Oscar winner Rami Malek, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and actor-musician Simone Ashley are also on the presenters' list, with Karan Johar hosting the evening. More names are expected to be added before the night itself.

The Earthshot Prize was founded by Prince William and bills itself as the planet's biggest environmental award, built to find fifty solutions to the planet's biggest problems over a decade. It runs around five distinct challenges, and this year's ceremony marks its first time landing in India.

It's also the first edition to stream globally on Prime Video, reaching audiences across more than 240 countries in over 40 languages. That's a significant jump in scale for an awards night that's typically stayed within its own circuit.

Alia, for her part, framed the appearance as something personal. "The Earthshot Prize is really about hope… but hope that comes with ideas, action and people who are finding new ways forward," she said, adding that she finds it "inspiring to be a part of" work being done to protect the environment. She also said she's proud India gets to host this particular moment, calling it "very special" that Mumbai is bringing these people together.

The actor has been stacking up non-film commitments lately, slipping between producer duties, brand work and now a global environmental platform, alongside the arguably bigger thing waiting on her release calendar. She's currently gearing up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, where she stars opposite real-life husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, a film that's been generating its own storm of poster drops and first-look reveals. That one's slated for a January 2027 release in cinemas. She's also attached to Tumbbad 2, playing a key part in what's shaping up as one of the more unusual sequels on the horizon.

For now, though, the focus is on Mumbai and December. Whether more A-listers get added to the Earthshot lineup before the actual night, and how India's first hosting of the ceremony gets received on a global stream, is something we'll find out only when the lights actually come up.
