Star Plus has stopped dodging the question. A new promo dropped Thursday confirms what fans had been guessing at for weeks: Amar Upadhyay is walking back into Shantiniketan as Mihir Virani on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

The channel timed the reveal to Ganesh Chaturthi, and the show is folding that timing straight into the plot. Within the story, Mihir's comeback is being framed as an answer to Tulsi's prayers, which is either a nice touch or shameless efficiency depending on how cynical you're feeling about festival-timed promos. Either way, it works.

Upadhyay isn't pretending this is just another job. "Mihir mere liye sirf ek character nahi hai," he said, calling the character a huge part of his journey and crediting years of audience love for keeping Mihir alive in people's heads long after the original run ended. He talked about the chatter that's followed him for weeks, the fans who wouldn't stop asking when he'd be back, and admitted their excitement made the whole thing feel bigger.

"Shantiniketan mein wapas aana, Tulsi aur Virani parivaar ke beech Mihir bankar khade hona, brings back so many memories," he said, adding that it genuinely feels like coming home. But he was careful to flag that the homecoming isn't a simple rewind button. "A lot has happened, equations have changed, and Mihir is returning to a family that has been through its own journey," he said, adding that he's curious to see how audiences react once Mihir actually walks back into their lives.

He's not walking back alone. Aman Verma is also returning, reprising Anupam Kapadia, brother of the show's original antagonist-turned-fan-favourite Mandira. That's two original-cast reunions landing in the same track, which tells you Star Plus is leaning hard on nostalgia to pull eyeballs back to the current season.

The rest of the Virani household carrying Season 2 stays put for now. Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan continue as Karan and Nandini Virani, Sumeet Sachdev and Ravee Gupta as Gautam and Damini, Ritu Chaudhary as Shobha Virani Choudhary, Sandeep Baswana as Sahil Virani, and Suvarna Jha as antagonist Tripti. Mihir stepping back into that lineup means old dynamics are about to collide with whatever this season has already built, and the show hasn't shown its hand on how messy that gets.

Bollywood Hungama has separately noted the return comes after roughly 14 weeks away from the show, though the exact shape of the storyline explaining his absence and comeback hasn't been detailed yet. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi airs daily at 10:30 PM on Star Plus and streams on JioHotstar, so the actual reunion episode is now the thing to watch for.
