Don’t Trouble The Trouble is already trouble. Four days in, and Fahadh Faasil’s Telugu debut as a solo lead has sunk to 3.37 crore net in India, with just 14% occupancy on its first Monday. That’s 33 lakh from 720 screens — less than what a mid-tier rom-com might clear in a single city.
The film, released October 2 to ride the Gandhi Jayanti weekend, now looks set to become Faasil’s second-lowest-grossing post-COVID outing, barely edging past Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira. At this pace, it’ll wrap under five crore domestically. No one’s celebrating. Not even the buzz.
Not even the names behind it. SS Rajamouli presented it. Mahesh Babu and NTR backed it. Grand pre-release events lit up southern cities.
But none of that moved bodies into theatres. Word of mouth? Poor. So poor it’s not even worth quoting.
The film’s fantasy premise, Faasil as a debt-ridden man who tries to kidnap a rich kid, only to meet a girl who claims she erased her parents with magic. Didn’t stick. Audiences didn’t buy the pitch. Or the performance.
Or the pacing. Or whatever else was supposed to carry it. It’s not just a commercial failure. It’s a quiet one.
No drama. No headlines. Just numbers dropping. And a question hanging: how do you launch a star’s regional debut with all the weight of industry royalty behind it, and still vanish?
The answer isn’t in the script. It’s in the seats. They’re empty. And they’ve been empty since Friday.
