Fahadh Faasil’s long-awaited Telugu debut as a solo lead, Don’t Trouble The Trouble, has stumbled out of the gate. Released on the Gandhi Jayanti weekend — a prime window for multiplexes and family audiences, the fantasy drama collected less than ₹2 crore on its opening day. By Day 3, the film had fallen below ₹1 crore daily, with a cumulative net total of just ₹3.04 crore across three days.

Over 400 screens were dropped by Sunday, a sign of rapid audience fatigue. The film, directed by Shashank Yeleti and presented by S.S. Rajamouli, marks Faasil’s first time leading a Telugu film after his earlier turn as a villain in Pushpa 1 & 2. He plays Suri, a man drowning in debt who plans to kidnap a child from a wealthy family to raise ₹25 lakh.

His plan unravels when he meets Divya, a young girl portrayed by child actor Ssara Palekar, who claims her magical powers accidentally made her parents vanish. The story blends crime, whimsy, and supernatural elements. But failed to connect with viewers. Despite the grand pre-release events and high expectations, the film didn’t sustain momentum even on a national holiday.

Trade sources confirm the drop in collections was steep and consistent. Still, there’s one silver lining: the film’s opening weekend gross is 108% higher than Faasil’s last solo release, the Malayalam film Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, which earned ₹1.46 crore during its Onam 2025 run. That comparison, while encouraging on paper, doesn’t mask the reality, the film is underperforming relative to its billing.

With no major awards buzz or word-of-mouth surge, it now faces an uphill battle in the digital space. Whether it finds a second life online remains uncertain. For Faasil, this marks his second consecutive solo outing that hasn’t delivered at the box office. The next move?
