Five days in, and Drishyam: The Conclusion has done what sequels rarely manage. It's outrunning its own hype.

According to DNA India, the Ajay Devgn and Jaideep Ahlawat starrer had crossed Rs 200 crore net in India by Tuesday evening, October 6, with the worldwide gross sitting close to Rs 325 crore. The film added Rs 14.50 crore net in India by 8 pm that day alone, pushing the domestic net to Rs 212 crore and the India gross to Rs 254 crore.

That's a serious number for a Hindi remake carrying the weight of two prior films and a Malayalam original that most fans already consider sacred text.

The pace has been steady rather than explosive. Day four had already seen the film cross Rs 300 crore worldwide on a domestic net of Rs 197.50 crore, per DNA India's own tracking. The jump to Rs 200 crore net inside 24 hours suggests the film isn't just holding, it's picking up word of mouth through the week, usually the toughest stretch for any big release once the opening weekend crowd thins out.

Part of that, going by DNA India's report, is coming from viewers who are calling this Hindi finale sharper than Mohanlal's Malayalam Drishyam 3, which came out back in May. That's not a small claim in a franchise where comparisons between the two versions have followed every instalment since the original 2013 film.

The story this time is SP Crime Branch officer Rajveer Singh Tomar, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, closing in on Vijay Salgaonkar's eleven-year run from the law. Ajay Devgn is back as Vijay, with Tabu, Shriya Saran, Prakash Raj, Rajat Kapoor, Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav rounding out the cast. Abhishek Pathak directs, and also co-writes with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Pathak himself produce under Panorama Studios, with Star Studio18 presenting.

Whether this becomes the franchise's biggest Hindi outing yet depends on what the second weekend does. Rs 200 crore net in five days is a number most 2026 releases would kill for. The question now is how much runway is left before the Diwali rush and whatever else lands in the next fortnight starts eating into its screens.
