Ganesh Acharya, the choreographer behind decades of Bollywood dance numbers, is stepping back behind the camera — and this time betting on a newcomer. Acharya put out the first poster and an announcement teaser on Monday for his next directorial, and even the title is up for debate. Bollywood Hungama has it as Ganesh Dust To Stardust. The Hindu runs it as Ganesh: Dust to Stardust.

Either way, the story looks built around dance and devotion. The teaser opens on a dancer bowing before an idol of Lord Ganesha before he breaks into rapid movement, set to vocals by Sonu Nigam. Per The Hindu, the film is being positioned as an underdog story wrapped around dance, though nobody's put out a synopsis yet.

The lead, according to The Hindu, is debutant actor Shivanshu Soni. Bollywood Hungama's reports don't name any cast at all, saying only that details on that front are expected "in the coming days." So it's not clear yet whether Soni is the only name attached or if the makers add to the cast before the film moves into full promotion.

Acharya has co-written the film with Digangana Suryavanshi and directs it himself. Soundarya produces under the V2S Production & Entertainment banner.

In a statement, Acharya called the project close to him. "Ganesh Dust To Stardust is a very special film for me," he said. "We have made it with a lot of heart, and I am excited to finally share its first glimpse with the audience. I hope they enjoy what we have created."

This isn't Acharya's first attempt at direction. He made Swami in 2007, Money Hai To Honey Hai in 2008, and the Marathi feature Bhikari in 2017, none of which quite matched the reputation he built as a choreographer. That side of his career has the hardware to show for it: two National Film Awards, for "Hawan Kund" in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and "Gori Tu Lath Maar" in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

Whether Dust To Stardust turns into a real comeback behind the camera or stays a one-poster moment depends on what the makers do next. There's no release date attached, no runtime, nothing on when the film actually goes on floor. All anyone has right now is a poster, a teaser, and a title that two outlets couldn't even agree on spelling the same way.
