The trailer for Heartbeats Season 2 is out, and Prime Video isn't wasting time getting back into Veridian Hospital. The MX Original drops September 9, three days from when the trailer hit the internet, and it's bringing the whole gang back with it.

Harsh Beniwal returns as Dr. Akshat, Shivangi Joshi as Dr. Saanjh. Their equation was never simple in season one and the trailer makes clear it hasn't gotten simpler. There's unfinished business between them, the kind that spills into hospital corridors and complicates every professional call they make. Season two doesn't just leave it there, though.

A medical scam is brewing at Veridian, and it threatens to pull back the curtain on an institution these young doctors have spent the show building their careers around. That's the real hook here. Ambition, loyalty, love, all of it gets tangled together once money and malpractice enter the picture. Rohan Gurbaxani, Yuvraj Dua, Naqiah Hazi, Ankit Siwach and Aditi Sharma round out the cast, presumably each with their own stake in how the scam plays out.

Tanmai Rastogi directs this run, with Amogh Ranadive and Garima Kunzru on writing duty. Rusk Media produces. Twenty episodes is a big ask for a medical dramedy, but season one clearly found an audience worth returning to.

What the cast is saying

Amogh Ranadive, who is Director and Head of AVOD Content at Prime Video India, called Heartbeats a show that lives in the space between the coats and the people wearing them. He said season two makes that world more layered, with familiar characters evolving and new dynamics forming.

Beniwal, for his part, said Akshat has always led with his heart, but that this season tests it properly. He talked about the quieter conflicts behind what's visible on screen, and how the show is less about what happens to Akshat than how it reshapes him. Joshi echoed something similar about Saanjh, saying her arc was never about one decision or one man. She framed this season as Saanjh growing more certain of herself even as everything around her gets messier.

Make of the quotes what you will. Actors promoting their own show tend to say the version gets better. But the trailer itself does suggest the writing has more to chew on this time, with the scam plot giving the hospital setting actual stakes beyond who's dating whom.

Heartbeats Season 2 streams free on Prime Video and the newly rebranded MX Player by Prime Video app from September 9, across mobile, Connected TVs, Fire TV and the Amazon shopping app. Whether the scam plot delivers on its promise, or just sits there as backdrop for the Akshat-Saanjh will-they-won't-they, is the thing worth watching for once episodes actually drop.
