Hyderabad got its Bappa on September 9, and this one arrived dripping in gold.

Lee-Chee Ka Raja 2026 made its aagman at Begum Bazar to a packed crowd, the idol lit up and moving through streets thick with devotees. It isn't a towering structure, not by the standards of the giant pandal idols you see across the country. But size was never the plan here.

What's pulling eyes is the finish. The idol carries 24-karat gold plating and is reportedly studded with 3,83,800 American diamonds, a number that sounds almost absurd until you see the footage. Videos from the aagman, shot in Begum Bazar and shared widely on Instagram by pages including TFC Hyderabad, AarambhbyTanishqa and Click Magik Devotional, show the idol catching light from every angle as it's carried through the crowd.

The concept itself is a mashup. According to the Free Press Journal, the idol takes its shape from Mumbai's Lalbaugcha Raja, arguably India's most photographed Ganpati, and dresses it in the ornamental language usually associated with Tirupati Balaji. Gold everywhere, diamond work everywhere, a deity from Maharashtra's most famous pandal wearing the aesthetic of Andhra's most famous temple. It's an odd pairing on paper. In the videos, it reads as one continuous idea.

The idol was reportedly made by Leechee Pearls Jewels, a Hyderabad jewellery outfit, which tracks with the sheer scale of stonework involved. This isn't a papier-mache Ganpati with some gold trim added for effect. Whoever built this treated it like a jewellery commission first and a devotional object second, or maybe they didn't separate the two at all.

The pandal hosting it, the Lee-Chee Ka Raja Ganeshotsav setup in Begum Bazar, has clearly leaned into the idol as its main draw this year. And going by how fast the clips have travelled, it's working. Begum Bazar is no stranger to big Ganpati crowds during the festival window, but a diamond count in the lakhs is the kind of detail that gets an idol talked about beyond its own neighbourhood.

There's no confirmed word yet on footfall numbers through the ten days of Ganeshotsav or on when the idol goes for immersion, standard practice for most pandals once the festival closes out. For now, Hyderabad has its shiniest Bappa in recent memory, and the clips keep circulating.
