Imran Khan has apologised unconditionally after the Bombay High Court questioned his role in a Mumbai protest against the SIR exercise. The court had flagged his participation, noting that as an OCI cardholder, he didn’t have the same standing as Indian citizens to criticise national policy. It gave him two choices: apologise or swear on oath.

He chose the former. The move came after the FRRO issued a Leave India Notice (LIN), demanding he leave by October 28 for his involvement in the protest. The High Court initially paused the notice until November 2 — now extended to December 7. The court also raised concerns about the FRRO’s decision, asking why Khan, who’s lived in India for over 40 years without any legal issues, wasn’t given a chance to respond before the notice was served.

His plea is still pending. No further orders are expected before the next hearing on December 7. The case remains active. And the actor?

Back in India, for now.
