The clip, depicting the actress in an inappropriate context, began circulating widely over the past few days, prompting outrage and swift responses from industry figures.
On October 5, Kapoor herself addressed the issue in a detailed post, condemning the violation of consent and calling for basic respect for a woman’s body. Her statement was met with immediate support from her co-star Jr NTR, who took to X to denounce the act in strong terms. He was followed by several prominent names from South Indian cinema, including megastar Chiranjeevi, amplifying the condemnation into a cross-industry stance against digital abuse.
The incident has now become a flashpoint in the broader conversation about AI misuse in entertainment. But not all voices agree on how to respond. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma weighed in on October 4 and 5, taking a sharply different view. In a tweet, he wrote: “The only thing all the celebrities succeeded in, is to publicise and thereby make crores and crores of people see the objectionable link.” He argued that instead of drawing attention to the content through public statements, the focus should have been on identifying and apprehending the perpetrator.
