Forget store-bought idols. This year, the Pataudi household went the DIY route, and it was little Jeh who got the credit.

Kareena Kapoor Khan shared pictures on social media of the family's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, revealing that the eco-friendly Ganpati idol placed in their home was shaped by her younger son, Jehangir Ali Khan. "Made by my Jeh Baba. Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Ganesh Chaturthi!" she wrote, posting a photo of the finished clay figure sitting on a wooden surface.

Before that finished shot, there was a work-in-progress one. Saif Ali Khan, dressed in a white kurta-pyjama, was pictured seated on the floor, hands in the clay, actually building the idol alongside his son. It's a small detail, but it tracks. Saif and Kareena have spoken before about keeping festivals hands-on and homegrown rather than outsourced.

The prayer ceremony itself looked like a proper family affair. A separate photograph doing the rounds shows Saif seated on the floor with Taimur and Jeh beside him, all three part of the ritual, and members of the household staff joining in with folded hands in the same frame. No grand pandal, no big guest list. Just the living room, the family, and the people who work in that house every day.

This isn't new territory for the couple. Kareena has talked in the past about how Christmas, Diwali and Eid all get marked at home, biryani included on the Eid end of things, and the kids grow up seeing every festival treated as their own. Ganesh Chaturthi, going by these pictures, gets the same treatment. No fanfare for the cameras, just a quiet ceremony and an idol that stays within the family rather than heading anywhere near a public pandal.

The eco-friendly angle is worth flagging too, given how much of the conversation around Ganpati visarjan these days is about clay idols versus plaster-of-Paris ones that don't dissolve cleanly. Making your own from clay solves that problem outright, and apparently a kid can manage it just fine with a parent's help.

On the work side, Kareena isn't taking much of a festive breather. She's got Daayra releasing September 18, opposite Prithviraj Sukumaran and directed by Meghna Gulzar, just days away from hitting screens. Whether the promotional rounds start picking up pace before then remains to be seen, but for now, the Pataudi clan seems content to keep the celebration exactly where it was, at home, with clay on their hands.
