Three of the south's biggest names showed up across separate promotional legs for Don't Trouble the Trouble, out October 2 in four languages.
Fahadh Faasil doesn't usually need company on a poster. But for Don't Trouble the Trouble, his first outing as a lead in Telugu since Pushpa put him on that map, the promotional trail has turned into something of a who's who.
SS Rajamouli and Suriya showed up as chief guests for the Tamil Nadu leg of the campaign. Jr NTR walked into the Telugu pre-release event in Hyderabad on Tuesday as chief guest there too. That's three marquee names lending their evenings to a film that isn't theirs, for an actor who's building his first solo Telugu run.
There's a family thread running through it as well. Nandamuri Balakrishna recorded the title dialogue for the trailer, and it's his nephew Jr NTR fronting the Hyderabad event. Whether that was the plan from the start or just how the guest list fell into place, it gives the promotions a nice bit of symmetry.
The team also turned up on the Telugu edition of Bigg Boss, where Fahadh, co-star Sara and producer SS Karthikeya sat down with host Nagarjuna for the standard promotional segment shows run before a big release. Nothing unusual there, it's become the default stop for any film hoping for a strong opening weekend.
Directed by Sashank Eleti and produced by Shobhu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni and SS Karthikeya under Arka Media Works and Showing Business, Don't Trouble the Trouble opens October 2 across Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and other languages. A same-day, multi-language release for a film that isn't a sequel or a known franchise is its own kind of bet, and the scale of the promotional campaign suggests the makers know it.
What makes Rajamouli's presence stand out a bit more is timing. He's currently deep into Varanasi, arguably the most watched production in the country right now, and yet he's out doing chief-guest duty for someone else's release. Read into that what you will, industry camaraderie or a returned favour, the sources don't say, and neither will we.
For Fahadh, the stakes are straightforward even if the film's genre and tone haven't been widely detailed yet. He's spent years being the actor other films leaned on. This one puts his name at the top of the Telugu poster, and the people the industry sent to stand next to him at these events are as good an indicator as any of how much weight is riding on October 2.
The film releases in a little under 48 hours from Tuesday's Hyderabad event. Whether the star power at the promotions translates into opening-day numbers is the next thing to watch.
