Ravanan tries to fix a court case with a phone call, and it backfires spectacularly.

In Sunday's — sorry, Thursday's, episode of Ethirneechal, Ravanan gets his PA Lakshmanan to ring up the judge hearing Gunasekaran's case. The offer is simple: release Gunasekaran however the judge wants it done, and Ravanan will do whatever is asked in return. The judge isn't having it. He points out, reasonably, that Gunasekaran is already out on bail, and asks what exactly he's supposed to do about it. Then he hangs up. Not long after, that same bail gets cancelled.

Gunasekaran finds out and is floored. Ravanan, scrambling to keep him out of custody, brings him home to lie low.

That's where things curdle. Kathir sees Gunasekaran turning up at the house and decides, instantly, that Janani is behind it. He storms back home convinced of it, telling her that her sudden cooperation with the family pooja and her politeness toward Gunasekaran had already made him suspicious. Now, with the bail cancelled, he wants to know if she engineered the whole thing.

Janani says she has no idea what he's talking about and never did anything of the sort. Kathir doesn't buy it, and for a moment it looks like he's about to hit her. Eswari gets there first, physically blocking him and asking, pointedly, whether he's learned nothing at all.

Eswari then turns to Janani for her side of it. Janani repeats that she knows nothing, then calls her lawyer, Charubala, to prove she had no hand in any of it. That call doesn't go the way she hoped. Charubala's first question back is how Janani even knew the judge had cancelled Gunasekaran's bail in the first place. It's a fair question, and Janani doesn't have a clean answer for it, which leaves her more rattled than before.

Meanwhile, back at the hideout, Ravanan is trying to talk Gunasekaran out of the pooja altogether. Stay indoors, stay safe, he says, and worry about getting bail back once things cool down. Gunasekaran won't hear of it. He's adamant the ritual happens today, telling Ravanan the deity has to enter him no matter what else is going on.

Whether that pooja actually goes ahead, and whether Gunasekaran gets his bail restored before Kathir figures out he pinned the wrong person, is where the show leaves things for now. The next episode will have to answer at least one of those.
