The concert-and-confessional film that played theatres in August moves to streaming just as the group gears up for its North America tour leg.
KATSEYE: Wild Hearts gets a streaming date. October 16, on Hulu and Disney+, according to Just Jared. The documentary had its theatrical run back in August, and now it's heading home to the platforms that'll actually reach the fandom at scale.
For anyone who hasn't kept up, KATSEYE is the HYBE x Geffen project built around five members — Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae. The film tracks their path from the brutal audition gauntlet of Dream Academy through to viral chart success, and it leans hard into the relationship between the group and EYEKONS, their fan base. Never-before-seen footage, fan-made videos, one-on-one interviews. The pitch is less a victory lap and more a love letter, if you take the official description at face value.
There's a wrinkle worth flagging. Manon Bannerman has been on hiatus from KATSEYE since February, and the group has previously said she's part of the documentary anyway. That's notable given she won't have been active with the band for most of the year this film covers in its most recent chapters. How much screen time she actually gets is something fans will only know once the film is up on October 16.
The timing isn't random either. KATSEYE just wrapped the European leg of its Wildworld Tour and is currently on a break before the North America run kicks off October 13. So the streaming release lands three days into that American leg, which is about as deliberate a scheduling choice as you'll see. Theatres got the film in August to catch the festival-adjacent buzz and the hardcore fans willing to buy a ticket. Streaming gets it in October, right when touring press and setlist chatter are already pushing the group's name back into timelines.
It's a pattern labels have leaned on more since the pandemic reshaped how music docs get distributed. Short theatrical window to generate headlines and box office numbers nobody really expects to be huge, then a streaming drop timed to a tour or an album cycle to keep the conversation going. KATSEYE: Wild Hearts fits that model almost exactly.
What's still unclear is whether Disney+ and Hulu will package any bonus material alongside the main feature, the kind of extended interview cuts or behind-the-tour footage that often shows up when these docs move to streaming. Just Jared's report doesn't mention extras, and there's been no word yet from HYBE or Geffen on that front.
For now, the date is locked. October 16, two platforms, one documentary that's betting its second life on streaming does what the theatrical run couldn't quite manage at scale.
