Siddharth Anand's King hit the 100-day countdown to release on Thursday, and that milestone has turned into an early referendum on Suhana Khan's box office prospects before a single ticket sells.

The film marks her theatrical debut, sharing screen space with her father Shah Rukh Khan, and arrives December 24, 2026. She's already worked on OTT, a run that Koimoi says built real anticipation. But theatres are a different arithmetic, and that's where the comparisons start.

Ahaan Panday set the bar for star kids in the post-COVID window with Saiyaara last year. According to Koimoi's numbers, the romance drama pulled in a worldwide gross of 570.67 crore, making Panday the first star kid ever to cross 500 crore globally on a debut film. The site also credits him with the highest-grossing post-COVID debut by a star kid across both domestic and worldwide tallies.

The economics behind that number are what make it a genuine record rather than just a big total. Saiyaara was made on a reported budget of 45 crore. Its net domestic collection came in at 337.69 crore, translating to a profit of roughly 292.69 crore. Koimoi pegs that as north of 500 percent return on investment, a figure no other star kid debut has matched.

That's the wall King has to clear if Suhana Khan is to take the crown. It's a tall one. Saiyaara didn't have a Shah Rukh Khan on the poster or a director who's built an entire career on box office scale.

Which is exactly the argument being made for King's chances. Siddharth Anand has delivered some of the biggest openers in recent Hindi cinema, and pairing Suhana with SRK on her big-screen debut gives the film a built-in audience Saiyaara never had. Whether that translates into 500-crore territory is the question nobody can answer with three months still on the clock.

Worth remembering: box office comparisons made a hundred days out are exactly that, comparisons, not verdicts. Saiyaara's numbers are locked in. King's are still theoretical, dependent on trailers not yet cut, songs not yet released, and a release date that could still shift the way Bollywood dates often do.

For now, the record stands with Ahaan Panday. Whether it survives past December 24 depends on how King performs in its opening weekend, and on whether Suhana Khan's first theatrical outing can do what her OTT run only promised.
