Soori's Mandaadi has quietly turned into one of 2026's steadier Kollywood runs, and by day 10 it's within touching distance of a number that looked unlikely on release week.

The sea-based sports drama earned 6.55 crore net on its second Saturday, playing across roughly 3,700 screens at a 34% occupancy rate, according to Koimoi. That pushes the film's 10-day domestic net to 67.55 crore, which works out to about 79.71 crore gross. Add an overseas gross of 14.65 crore and the worldwide total sits at 94.36 crore, edging toward triple digits.

For Soori, that would be new territory. Nothing he's headlined before has crossed 100 crore worldwide, and Koimoi's tracking suggests Mandaadi will get there early in its second week.

The second weekend did cool off compared to the first. No new Tamil release opened to compete for screens, yet the film couldn't repeat the double-digit single-day numbers from its opening run. That's a fairly ordinary dip for a film ten days old, and it hasn't dented the larger trajectory.

Because the larger trajectory is this: Mandaadi has already gone past Thaai Kizhavi's full theatrical lifetime to become the fifth highest-grossing Kollywood film of 2026. The next name on the list is Lokesh Kanagaraj's DC, and Koimoi reported the film was likely to overtake it by Sunday.

The Sardar 2 factor

None of this was meant to happen this way. Mandaadi opened opposite Karthi's Sardar 2, a clash that should have squeezed screen space away from a smaller sports drama. Instead it's Sardar 2 that's struggling, reportedly down close to 78% by its ninth day, while Mandaadi has held its screen count and occupancy through two full weekends.

The reaction online has been mixed, which is probably keeping the film in conversation rather than hurting it. Some viewers are fully behind the boat-racing sequences and the film's willingness to mix genres that Tamil cinema doesn't usually combine in one script. Others have picked at the plot's logic, joking on social media about where the police disappear to for most of the runtime. None of it seems to be slowing ticket sales.

There's also a gap worth flagging before anyone treats these figures as final. Producer-side numbers circulating this week put the extended-weekend total at around 65 crore, a figure that doesn't quite line up with Koimoi's tracking. Producer claims and trade estimates rarely match exactly, so both should be read as directional until an independent tally settles the difference.

Directed by Pugazhendi Mathimaran and written by Mathimaran with Ameer Jamal Khan and Elred Kumar, Mandaadi stars Soori opposite Suhas and Mahima Nambiar. The film has two milestones to clear in the same stretch, DC's lifetime total and its own worldwide century. If Sunday's numbers hold up, both could fall before the week ends.
