Natalie Portman's partner isn't a household name outside French electronic music circles, and that's about to change.

Tanguy Destable, who records and performs as Tepr, welcomed his first child with Portman in Paris last month, a source told People. It's Portman's third. She already has a son, Aleph, and a daughter, Amalia, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied. This one's Destable's first.

So who is he?

Destable grew up in Morlaix, a small town in Brittany, and told The French Shuffle back in 2016 that the isolation shaped how he made music. "I grew up in a small town in Brittany in the 90s, and it was hard to find band members... So I decided to buy a sampler and synth to replace the drummer and bass player," he said. "I couldn't find anyone, and do it all by myself."

That DIY streak turned into a real career. Destable put out his debut album in 2015 and has released three more since, including Technosensible and a soundtrack credit for the film Je suis toujours la (I'm Still Here). Before any of the solo records, he'd already worked with French pop act Yelle and composer-producer Woodkid, and he performed at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2023 he teamed up with Lady Gaga for a Dom Pérignon film project.

He was previously married to French actress Louise Bourgoin, known for The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec and the series Interns.

The Portman connection surfaced in March 2025, when French outlet Voici reported the two were dating. The Daily Mail followed with photos, and People confirmed the relationship. The pictures showed Destable with an arm around Portman, kissing the top of her head, which is about as much public affection as either of them has offered up since.

A year into the relationship, Portman confirmed the pregnancy in an April 2026 interview with Harper's Bazaar, calling it "a beautiful, joyous thing." She sounded like someone very aware this might be her last time doing this.

"Tanguy and I are very excited. I'm just very grateful. I know it's such a privilege and a miracle," she said. "I know how lucky it is. I'm very aware, and I'm very grateful. I have deep appreciation and gratitude."

She went further on what's different this time around. "There is a gratitude that when you're young, you don't necessarily grasp," Portman said. "And there's a calm and knowing myself: who I want to spend time with, what kind of energy I want around me that makes the experience so beautiful every day. And knowing it's probably the last time, I cherish every moment."

Neither Portman nor Destable has said much publicly since the birth, and there's no word yet on the child's name or a formal announcement date. For now, what we've got is a source close enough to know the month and the city, and a French musician who's spent a decade building film scores nobody outside the industry noticed until now.
