The two-part plan always carried risk. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana was mapped for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 — origin story first, war epic second. Bollywood Hungama now reports the second date has collapsed. Part two will not arrive next year.

It lands Diwali 2028 instead. Part one remains on track. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash fronted chapter opens this Diwali weekend, a matter of days from now. A source told the outlet the delay stems from the Yudh portion.

The war sequences. Action design took longer than expected because Malhotra and Tiwari refused to recycle existing spectacle. They wanted original set pieces built for world cinema standards. Malhotra is reportedly unwilling to let budget constraints dilute the vision.

The franchise carry cost sits at Rs 3,000 crore. That number, the source insists, will be visible on every frame. The new release date will be announced in a post-credits scene attached to part one. Early response to the first film is described as fantastic.

Box office fireworks are expected over the holiday corridor. Rakul Preet Singh, speaking separately, claimed audiences will see Ranbir Kapoor every time they think of Lord Rama after this film. Part one opens Thursday. The post-credits sting lands with it.

Two years later, the war begins.
