Saiyami Kher landed from Melbourne and went straight into a press schedule. No pause, no jet-lag day off. That's the shape of her September right now, and by her own account, she's not complaining.

The actress was in Australia for the world premiere of Pal Bhar Ke Liye at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, where the film got what Bollywood Hungama described as a warm reception from the audience. She flew back and walked into promotions for Haiwaan, the Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan film she's also part of. Two very different premieres, one week apart, on two continents.

What makes the schedule heavier than it sounds is the third thing running underneath both of them. Kher is training daily for her third Half Ironman Triathlon, having already finished two. That means swimming, cycling, running, strength work, the whole circuit, squeezed around flights and photo calls.

"It's been a very satisfying phase for me because there has been so much happening on both the professional and personal front," she said. "The love we received in Melbourne for Pal Bhar Ke Liye was incredibly special... And then coming back and getting into the Haiwaan promotions with Akshay sir and Saif sir has been equally exciting. It's a packed schedule, but it's a schedule I'm really enjoying."

She's been specific about not letting the promotional grind become an excuse. "I've been very particular about staying consistent with my training. I'm training every single day, even when the schedule is hectic. Sometimes it means waking up extremely early, sometimes it means finding time after a long day, but I don't want to make my work an excuse to compromise on something I've committed to," she said. "Training for a Half Ironman requires discipline because you have to keep showing up, whether you feel like it or not."

That idea of showing up runs through how she talks about acting too. "There is a lot of discipline involved in both acting and endurance sport. You have to be patient, you have to put in the work consistently and you have to trust the process," she added, calling the stretch exhausting and fulfilling in the same breath.

It's an unusual double life for an actress mid-promotion cycle, most stars treat a release week as an excuse to switch everything else off. Kher is doing the opposite, stacking Melbourne, a big-ticket Bollywood release and an endurance race onto the same calendar.

Haiwaan's promotional run continues alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, and Kher's third Half Ironman is still ahead of her, a date that will tell whether all that early-morning training around press junkets actually holds up on race day.
