The Tamil sports drama has pulled in a worldwide total of over 104 crore, giving Soori his first century as a leading man despite a Sardar 2 clash.
Soori finally has his 100 crore film, and it took him just eleven days to get there. Mandaadi, the Tamil sports drama built around a traditional boat race, has crossed 104.55 crore worldwide, according to trade figures reported by Koimoi. That includes a domestic net of 75.55 crore, a gross of 89.15 crore, and 15.4 crore from overseas.
The film added 8 crore net on day 11 alone, playing on roughly 3,800 screens domestically, and closed its second weekend with 18.25 crore. Not bad for a title that opened straight into a clash with Sardar 2.
The money matters here isn't just the round number. Mandaadi was made on a reported budget of 50 crore. With 75.55 crore already banked in India, Koimoi's numbers put the film's return on investment at 25.55 crore, a little over 51 percent. It's still 25 crore short of a formal hit verdict, but if the second-weekend pace holds even loosely, that gap won't last long.
There's a Kollywood pecking-order angle too. Domestically, Mandaadi has already gone past the lifetime total of Lokesh Kanagaraj's DC, making it the fourth highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026 so far. It's still chasing Vishwanath & Sons, which has cleared 120 crore, but the gap between fourth and third just got a lot smaller than anyone expected from a boat-race drama with no big star at the center.
Because that's really the story with Soori. He spent years as a junior artist and painter before Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu gave him his first real break, and even longer after that as the reliable comic in someone else's film. The turn came with Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai, where he shed the comedy tag and showed he could carry weight on screen. Kottukkaali and Garudan followed, one a critical favorite and the other a commercial one, and then Maaman, which he wrote himself, did solid business too. Mandaadi is the payoff for all of that, and Tamil trade writers have been blunt about it: this is the first time Soori has anchored a film to a century.
Directed by Pugazhendhi Mathimaran and written by Mathimaran along with Ameer Jamal Khan and Elred Kumar, the film stars Soori opposite Mahima Nambiar and Suhas, with Sathyaraj also in the cast, according to Filmibeat Tamil. GV Prakash Kumar composed the music. The film's boat-racing set pieces, filmed around competitive vallam kali, have been a talking point online even among viewers who've quibbled about how loosely the plot's police procedural elements hold together.
Whether Mandaadi can push past Vishwanath & Sons before its run winds down is the next number worth watching. For now, Soori has his century, and the third-weekend trend line will decide how much further this one has left to run.
